The Library

For the last couple months, I've been working to organize and set up a children's library and a teacher's resource library for the families and church lay workers in this community. And that is just my part. In the same building is a theological library and a classroom for training pastors and lay workers that my missionary co-workers have set up. At the end of this month we have our long awaited dedication ceremony for this resource center, in which we are inviting pastors and Christian leaders from all over the city. We are really praying that this center will be used of the Lord to encourage and educate Christians in this city. The exciting part for me is to show children who aren't normally exposed to books how exciting reading can be and share my love of reading with them. I love the fact that part of my job here is teaching children to read, reading to them, and motivating them to read more. With the teacher's resource library, we have the books and materials to be able to train children's workers and even academic school teachers in better ways of teaching. The classroom area provides a place where they can sit and study the materials, and a place where I can train them with the resources nearby. Please pray for this library, for the exciting new opportunities that it presents to those in this community and for us missionaries as we make the final preparations for opening the center.
