A big dead rat! She was sitting there right next to it like it was a new friend of hers and they were just enjoying the morning together. Unfortunately, a little later, she began to drag it around and play with it, so I put an end to that and had someone come and bury it. But now my little puppy has come into the grand world of “rat-killing”, which Angel is teaching her. It might be yucky, but I'm sure glad to have two dogs who will keep me safe from rats!

Precious and Her Friend
My two dogs give me quite a bit of entertainment. The other night there was some unwanted entertainment late at night, though. I was about to turn the light out when I heard a sudden banging sound, then a pathetic squeaking. Looking out the window with my flashlight. I could see my puppy, Precious was upset about something, pacing around and crying. Angel, my German Shepherd was quiet, and I assumed that she had just killed a rat because of all the squeaking I had heard. I decided to wait till morning to investigate this further. So in the morning, I looked out my bedroom window to see Precious sitting on her little red mat with this:

At Your Village
I always enjoy the time I get to spend with the neighborhood kids in my children's library. It opens up a whole new world of learning to them and they've become increasingly more curious about things around them.
The other day, I was crocheting a scarf while I was sitting at my desk in the library. One of the girls came close to me to watch me and said, “Please, Auntie, I would like to ask you what you are making.” I told her it was a scarf to put around my neck. Not really understanding, she reached down and stretched it out to see it at its length. Then she nodded and smiled. “Oh, this is for you to wear around your neck when you return to your village!” I smiled, trying not to laugh as I thought of my large, sophisticated city in the U.S. being called a “village”. Then she asked, “Is there snow in your village now?” I nodded, then added, “Yes, there's snow in my village!” I just couldn't resist calling my home in the U.S. a village!
